    It is REALLY close.
I only watched the first 4 episodes of FF and I thought it was worse. Or maybe it was slightly better but hadn't built up the goodwill that 24 did so I had less tolerance for its suckiness.

    they do all blur together

someone with some youtube level editing skills and way too much time could put together a horrendous mashup of 24 seasons combined.

    It's paint by numbers.

    The bad guy
    The pres
Jack: They keep pullin me back in!!
The bad guy in the pres' administration
    CTU's director-hardass..eventually ousted
    Mole within CTU
Jack's bad luck with women, Jack sounding out of breath with every line
last remaining witness dies just before giving the name of the real bad guy
    Jack tortures someone/Jack get tortured
Chloe irritates everyone, wrinkles her nose like Bewitched, does something crazy
    Kim wrestles a couger
    etc..

my brain hurts from writing that

I'm not a fan of Flash Forward by any stretch, but I really think you're being too easy on 24. FF certainly has awful writing, but at least it SEEMS like there is a little cohesion to a central plot (this could change -- it seemed that way for 24 at first, too). The characters aren't great, but the actors are at least generally decent, and it's also not nearly as formulaic (though this could also change). I think the only advantage you can give to 24 over FF is that as crappy as it is, at least the action in 24 keeps things moving...usually moving in the direction of your eyes rolling back in your head, but at least that's a direction.

Pretty much everything you said was true of 24 in season one. And I would put season 1 of 24 way ahead of Flash Forward so far.... but I do continue to watch it because of how much promise it has.

I agree that season 1 was far more riveting than FF so far...however, I would say that's because we didn't realize yet how little the writers cared. It SEEMED like it had these great conspiracies and all sorts of fun intrigue, but as time showed us, that was all lies. I think it's unlikely that FF falls so short of the mark it sets for itself. Then again, I also don't think it'll live up to the potential you say it has (and which I agree with you is pretty high, which is why I also keep watching).

I swear I have a problem of not being able to stop. The INS/ICE raid and the entire mechanic job was just awful.

Really lame ending to the series. May as well have been a season finale.

    Well, FF is already cancelled.

And 24 series finale was great. Better than the entire 6th season of lost, by the way.
Gonna miss Chloe and her funny faces!!
    Shut it down!

    Heroes is done?
I fell away from that show somewhere early this season.

Loved S1 and S2. I thought "this is like a comic book but real!"
After season 2, it became "this just seems like a comic book...sigh..."

the difference between those two was exactly what I loved about it.
But I will say this...the early Sylar was one of the most terrifying and awesomest bad guys in recent TV

Oh yeah, this is the 24 thread.
Yep. Jack does bad stuff, good stuff, talks in breathless whisper, goes off the grid... crisis averted.

And for some effed up reason unknown to me...I'll probably go see the damn movie.

I wish they had killed him in the series finale and figured out some other way to make a movie. Prequel maybe? They spent the last 7 episodes setting us up for him to get killed by turning him into a ruthless, merciless, psycho killer and robbing him of his moral high groud. But in the end, it was the same old "Jack was just doing it for the good of the country" and him being on the run.

yeah, after Season 2 t hings went a little downhill, but not so bad that it warranted cancellation.

NBC is looking at outdated neilson ratings, and overlooking the fact that Heroes is huge in DVD sales, on line viewings and is the most pirated television show on the internet. A lot of people don't want to watch it weekly, but would rather watch a few episodes at a time, due to its serial nature. Horribly shortsighted move by NBC; the last Season wrapped up a few things and ended with a more focused vision towards the next volume, and now, will be forever open-ended with a cliffhanger.

Funny that you say that about the evil of early series Sylar, since by the end, he has been reformed into a dark anti-hero, forever altered by both years spent stuck in a mental limbo, and by possession of Nathans memories (RIP), sense of family and justice, seeking redemption as a hero, sharing a brotherly bond with Peter.

The show ended on an open thread; In Season 3, Sylar leaves his dying father with a cryptic mention of an undying cheerleader in california, while Season 4 ends with Claire outting her ability on national television after a near-disaster. Parkman is going very dark and veangeful after his dark run-ins with Sylar, and could follow in the footsteps of his father. The plotlines they have set up for next season could restore the show to greatness, but instead, they will give us a crap 2 hour movie finale that will destroy any cohesive story/plotline/character development they have set up over the years.

No way. No season of 24 was better than any season of Lost. Well, maybe Day 1 was better than the worst season of Lost.
